Costume Drama: Dulhan Chali Pahan Chali

It is an enjoyable challenge to find a song for a particular occasion that fits in an ongoing theme. I am delighted to present this lovely song on the occasion of our upcoming Independence Day.

Manoj Kumar is associated with several patriotic films. "Purab Aur Pachhim" (1970) is one of them. Here, he played a freedom fighter's son Bharat who goes abroad to study. While there, he works towards changing the mindset of people towards India. So, enjoy this song. Greetings and best wishes to all!

Saawan Songs: O Sajan Beet Na Jaaye Saawan

Presenting a duet from "Mardon Wali Baat" (1988) today. It is an action film starring Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, Jayaprada and Sanjay Dutt. Neither the film, nor its music seem to have made much impact. But this is quite a nice song!

Saawan Songs: Aayo Re Aayo Re Aayo Re

Here is a solo from "Bandhan" (1969), a drama starring Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz. The song celebrates the month of saawan very energetically. Some rain would have added value to the visuals, though.

Garden Of Five Senses: Chandan Sa Badan

Chandan...sandalwood! What a lovely fragrance to celebrate the sense of smell with! Two versions of a popular song from "Saraswatichandra" (1968). Based on Govardhanram Madhavram Tripathi's Gujarati novel with the same name, this was perhaps the last Hindi film to be made in black and white. It starred Nutan with Manish, a little-known actor.

Singers: Lata Mangeshkar, Mukesh
Lyrics: Indeevar
Music: Kalyanji Anandji

Her Story: Leaving! - 2

"Kaheko byahi bides" is one of the finest vidaai songs that we have. I was wondering if I should dare to post any more from the same genre after that. But succumbed to the temptation of posting this melody from "Anokhi Raat" (1968).

Trivia: This was Roshan's last film as a composer. This particular song was recorded after his death, based on the tune set by him.

Singer: Lata Mangeshkar
Lyrics: Kaifi Azmi, Indeevar
Music: Roshan

Indeevar's real name was Shyamalal Babu Rai. This is one of his notable songs.

Singer Mukesh was the producer of this film.
